...and I liked it a lot. This one was a 1993 Laredo with the lovely interior pictured above, and bronze-tinted rear windows. It had that typical late ‘80s/early ‘90s American interior smell (almost impossible to describe, but I’m sure someone knows what I mean), mixed with a hint of partially burnt gasoline, too. The icing on the cake was the AMC 242, which sounded great with the mild exhaust work done.

It was also painted matte olive-drab (not pictured, but close).

It rode like a Jeep, but that’s to be expected (it’s not a Jeep otherwise). I drove my Forester later in the day, which felt like a BRZ in comparion.

The last ZJ I rode in was a 1997 Limited, and I wasn’t a big fan of it. This one addressed most of my dislikes (mostly the interior), and overall was just cooler.

I used to have a ‘93 with the 5.2L.

I still miss it.

My friend has one of these, a Limited with the straight six. I can;t remember what year, but it’s an earlier one. I kind of want one, even though I really have no use for one, and already have my Blazer. But I love the interiors for some reason

I grew up in a ‘94 Limited with the 5.2. My mom was a psycho behind the wheel and that thing was fast as hell. She had it over 100 several times. My stepdad still drives it and it's got well over 400,000 miles at this point.

In that color, with the fake wood pattern, it looks like a same-era Caravan that hit the gym and got swole:

I don’t know how my ‘92 Cherokee was so reliable when my ‘98 Grand Cherokee was so not reliable. Same parts but everything broke.

In the time span of 115,000-140,000 miles: the 4.0l blew a rod, transfer case needed a tiny plastic part rendering the car unmovable, front diff blew up and the transmission never worked right in the cold. Not to forget, it also needed about 6 sensors and an ECU.

Yea I took it off road all the time, but fuck.

.... I am not a fan.

It was fun to ride in, but I don’t think I’d want to live with one on a daily basis. This one has had a lot of work done to it mechanically (although the engine is untouched).

Also, lots of rust repairs (which seems to be a common theme for northern ZJs)
